JAMMU, Apr 3: PDP MLA, Mir Javed Mustafa today staged a dharna on the stairs in front of Legislature Hall here protesting against the demolition of mosque near Civil Secretariat for construction of Assembly complex.
The MLA carrying a banner writing Masjid Sharief ko Shaheed kiya Gaya.
Later when House assembled the independent MLA Hakim Mohammed Yasin raised the issue in the House saying that Masjid Sharief near Civil Secretariat was demolished. Terming it a serious issue he wanted a statement from Government.
The Speaker Mubark Gul asked the Government to make a statement and the Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo said it is not in the knowledge of the Government and he will see to it.
However the Minister of PWD, Abdul Majid Wani stood up saying that Government will reconstruct the mosque with full honour and if any officer was found guilty action under law will be taken against him.
Hakim Yasin demanded that the mosque be restored immediately.
