Army jawan’s eyes taken out

AKHNOOR, Apr 3: An Army jawan was found unconscious with eyes gouged in Chowki Choura area of tehsil Akhnoor in Jammu district today.
Jawan identified as Rakesh Kumar Dutta, 28, son of Kuldeep Raj, resident of Laam village in , tehsil Nowshera of district Rajouri belonged to 11 Rashtriya Rifle Unit located in Kishtwar area. He was found lying unconscious in a nullah with eyes taken out along the Jammu-Poonch national highway in Chowki Choura area of Akhnoor.
The jawan was on leave and had left his home on April 1 to rejoin his unit yesterday in Kishtwar.
He was found unconscious by some passersby with both of his eyes gouged in the nullah along the roadside.
He was immediately shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital Jammu.
The police registered a case in this connection and started investigation. The police has also ruled out it as a case of militancy. Police said the jawan was married three years back and had a two-year-old daughter. Further investigation was in progress.
