Govt soon to introduce Food Policy: Minister

JAMMu, Apr 4: Realising need for introduction of Food Policy, the Government is soon going to introduce Food Policy in the state.

While replying in the House after concluding the discussion on the working of CA&PD and Transport Ministry here in the Legislative Council today,  Minister Choudhry Mohammad Ramzan said that implementation of the food policy would help to streamline the public distribution system.

The Minister assured the members that due consideration would be given towards their suggestions adding, “18 lakh families are registered and getting foodgrains from the department against 22 lakh exists in the State”.

He said as part of expansion programme 4,000 new sale outlets are being proposed to be set up across the state to bring more efficiency in public delivery system.

While referring to the issuance of new ration cards, the minister said that all the eligible ration card holders would be given ration cards. (AGENCIES)
