JAMMU, Apr 14: In the wake of lockdown triggered by COVID-19 pandemic, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has started the process of feeding stray animals in and around Jammu city.
In this regard, JMC Commissioner, Avny Lavasa visited Narwal Bye-Pass, Channi, Bahu Fort, Transport Nagar and adjoining areas to inspect the feeding of stray animals.
A handout stated that JMC is daily providing green fodder sourced from R.S Pura and surrounding areas and vegetable waste from Narwal Mandi to the stray cattle.
Apart from this JMC officials are feeding stray dogs with biscuits and other food material on daily basis.
JMC is also carrying out daily health surveillance of stray animals under the guidance of Municipal Veterinary Officer and has appealed to the public and NGOs to ensure that stray animals are fed.
The JMC handout also stated that the programme of feeding stray animals was carried out under the guidance of Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta and Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma under the supervision of JMC Commissioner, Avny Lavasa and it was executed by Municipal Veterinary Officer, Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma.
