Coronavirus: Respect and support doctors, says Akhilesh Yadav

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has appealed to the people to come forward if they experience symptoms of the novel coronavirus while respecting and helping doctors.

In a tweet on Thursday, Mr Yadav said, “Anyone who experiences symptoms of COVID-19 should themselves come forward for testing and should respect and support those doctors who are risking their lives to save other people.”

Expressing disagreement with the policies of the government, he said that the Yogi government while maintaining patience, needs to take everyone along in this matter.

He said, “Rather than intimidating people, the government should take everyone in confidence and move forward.”

On Wednesday, several health workers were injured after a crowd attacked them and several cops while they were taking the family members of a COVID-19 infected patient who died, for quarantining in UP’s Moradabad.

Later, 17 people, including seven women involved in the attack, were arrested by the police on the directions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, late Wednesday night. (AGENCIES)
