MENDHAR, Apr 4: Two shops were burgled by some unknown thieves in the main market of Mendhar town during last night.
Some thieves broke opened the shutter of a liquor shop belonging to one Sanjay Kumar, resident of Ari, near Bus Stand Mendhar last mid night. The burglars caused damage to many filled bottles kept inside and also decamped with some liquor and Rs 50,000 cash. They also damaged a car parked outside the shop.
Another shop (tea stall) belonging to one Zaffar Javed, resident of Bera, located in the same market in the town was broken and Rs 1500 cash stolen. The thieves also had broken bottles of cold drinks and juice etc kept inside.
Strong resentment was expressed by local traders against police. They alleged that despite night patrolling of policemen in the market, these thefts have taken place. They alleged poor monitoring by senior officers in this regard.
