JAMMU, Apr 18: J& K BJP vice president, Yudhvir Sethi today slammed Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the situation in the country amid the Coronavirus outbreak especially with regard to lockdown restrictions.
In a hard hitting statement issued here, the BJP leader said that it shows that Rahul Gandhi is not behaving like a responsible leader of the Opposition Congress and was speaking the language of the India’s detractors.
Taking a jibe on Rahul Gandhi, he said the Congress’ leader’s criticism over lockdown in the country has come at the time when entire world especially World Health Organisation (WHO) has applauded India for its relentless efforts to fight the spread of the lethal Coronavirus. Sethi said it is annoying that when the country is passing through such critical phase wherein Government has put in all its resources to bail out people of this nation out of this morass, the ‘sadist’ Congress leader is not leaving any chance to derive pleasure out of this grim situation.
Sethi said that before raising questions on lockdown, the Congress leader should have first asked the states ruled by Congress to revoke such restrictions, which they have imposed quite earlier than Central Government announced lockdown.  The BJP senior leader said that all the countries affected by this virus have opted for lockdown and are achieving desired results but the Congress leader is not convinced and wants elimination overnight as if Government has a magic wand and is not using the same.
Sethi said that faultfinding at this crucial juncture is compulsion of Congress as the party has become redundant under present circumstances and is looking for various alibis to remain relevant. The senior BJP functionary asserted that the grim situation from which country is passing now requires that Rahul Gandhi and other leaders of opposition should stand shoulder to shoulder for bolstering Government’s resolve to fight Coronavirus and solidify the measures taken by BJP Government in this direction.
