Cluster University Jammu, DSEJ organizes webinar to celebrate World Heritage Day

JAMMU, Apr 18: Department of History in the School of Social Sciences, Cluster University of Jammu, organized Webinar to celebrate World Heritage Day, on the theme ‘Heritage Superfoods for Immunity Resilience’.
This is the first of its kind e-activity taken place to promote indigenous knowledge on the foods consumed in Indian households on almost daily basis under the stewardship of Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu.
The event started on a welcoming note by Prof Sindhu Kapoor, Co-Ordinator, Department of History, School of Social Sciences, providing an introduction to the theme.
The resource person supporting the theme was Dr Mitali Gupta, a practicing Nutritionist of fame being the best dietician of the year 2018-2019. She delivered her lecture on the theme discussing usage of superfoods such as turmeric, amla (gooseberry), alsi (flaxseed), khameera (yeast), guchi (Himalayan wild mushroom), cinnamon, lemon, spinach, pepper, garlic, ginger and other fermented foods such as achar and murrabba.
The event was graced with the presence of the fraternity of CLUJ. Chief guest on the occasion was the Registrar, Dr Jatinder Khajuria, with special guest, Controller of Examination Prof Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, along with Dean Students Welfare Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Humanities and Liberal Arts Dr Gitanjali Rana, and Dean School of Sciences Prof Sanjay Verma.
The event took place just the next day after an advisory was released by Prof Rajnish Jain, Secretary UGC, in which suggested guidelines promotes universities and colleges to take initiatives to promote mental health and wellbeing through immunity boosting measures for the stakeholders at such educational institutions.
The event was attended online by students of semester II and IV of MA Integrated History Honors with specialization in Cultural Heritage along with the faculty and non-faculty members of the department.
School Education Quality Management cell of Directorate of School Education Jammu also celebrated World Heritage Day by organising a webinar wherein Teachers from Tamil Nadu and Jammu and Kashmir participated.
Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta graced the occasion as chief guest and stressed upon the objective of the EBSB programme, which is to promote better understanding of diverse cultural heritage of India among the students and teachers by conducting such interactive activities throughout the year.
Speakers of the occasion presented a brief historical background and importance of the historical monuments and places while welcome note was presented by Jaswinder Kour.
Indian National Trust for Art,Culture and Heritage (INTACH) in collaboration with Amar Santosh Museum Udhampur also celebrated the World Heritage Day in the premises of Amar Santosh museum at Udhampur.
