Patients from J&K not allowed to visit Punjab for treatment

KATHUA, Apr 18: The patients from J&K going for emergency treatment in private hospitals of Punjab are not being allowed to move ahead of Madhavpur by Punjab Police.
As per reports five patients from J&K including that of Kathua and Jammu districts besides a contractor who has been entrusted with installation of COVID Tunnels in the Jammu region was not allowed to proceed to Punjab to purchase the raw material for the same despite having secured permission from the authorities of J&K.
Reports said that while rejecting permission to two patients one from Jammu and another from Kathua who were going for treatment in a private hospital at Amritsar in neighboring State, the Punjab police denied permission to them saying that only patients coming in ambulances will be allowed to proceed towards Amritsar or any other city for treatment.
Both these patients had been given passes by the respective Deputy Commissioners to travel to Punjab for treatment. One patient identified as Madhu from Kathua was to be operated for removal of Gallbladder while another patient Vijay Kumar from Jammu was to go for check up post leg surgery.
There were three more patients from J&K who were denied permission by Punjab police to visit the State.
Ishant Kumar a contractor of Sanitizing tunnels who had also a permission from the higher authorities of J&K to visit Punjab for purchase of raw material was not allowed to proceed further from Madhavpur by Punjab police. All of them were compelled to return to Lakhanpur.
Sources, while expressing surprise over the working of Punjab police said while J&K police allows all people travelling from Punjab to J&K on medical grounds after the proper check the Punjab Police is not reciprocating in the same way.
Meanwhile a patient admitted in COVID Hospital Ganderbal of Kashmir Valley said that there are not proper arrangements in them and the food served to the patients is not standard. Anzal Gani of Gozhama a patient admitted in COVID Hospital Ganderbal said there are not proper arrangements for the COVID patients in the hospital and this way their life is being put to grave risk.
