JKRCEA urges LG to stop promotions without filling reserved slots

JAMMU, Apr 19: The leaders of Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA), a registered Trust working for the welfare of society, has urged the Lieutenant Governor of J&K Union Territory, GC Murmu to stop bureaucracy in making promotions without filling reserved slots.
JKRCEA conveyed this in a webinar meeting, which was attended by the executives from Kathua, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and Udhampur.
The meeting condemned the state bureaucracy treacherous action of promotion KAS Officers as well as Principals of Higher Secondary Schools last week without following reservation roster of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes as per Reorganization Act and extension of Constitutional provisions to J&K UT.
Sham Lal Basson, Head of socio-religious wing of JKRCEA said that it was very serious matter that when whole of the state machinery is busy in combating COVID-19 pandemic, the anti SC/ST/OBC officialdoms in Civil Secretariat were hell-bent upon killing reservation for SC/ST/OBCs.
Mohinder Bhagat another leader of JKRCEA said that the promises made by Prime Minister and Home Minister while abrogating article 370 were being defeated by the bureaucracy of Union Territory, adding that one of the promises was extension of all constitutional provisions to JKUT including reservation in promotions and issues related to Backward classes.
Asad Noomani, President of JKRCEA Unit Poonch said that the job reservation including reservation in promotions is a State Subject and LGs administration should not allow it to be killed by the bureaucracy who is anti reservation and is sabotaging the issue since last 5 years.
He requested LG to restore reservation in promotions with a single administrative order.
All the members unanimously resolved to fight corona battle hand to hand with the Government, but warned if the reservation rules are floated like this, they will be compelled to come on roads after the lockdown is over.
They requested LG to give clear directions to administrative machineries to either stop any promotions which are not the priority at this time or give proper representation to SC/ST as per the roster point.
