Darbar move deferred

Restricting mobility of people and movement of vehicles carrying people are cardinal facets of fighting the spread of the deadly corona virus and under such circumstances, unless ground situation and circumstances change for the better, moving the Darbar from Jammu to the summer capital of the UT seems neither prudent nor plausible. The Government, therefore, has decided to defer the six monthly movement of offices till June 15 as against the scheduled date of May 4. With reduced staff strength, UT Government offices are to function with effect from April 20.
The main principle of lockdown guidelines “as is where is” implies that the employees moving between the twin capitals bi- annually shall continue for the time being to remain where they are which has impacted the movement of Darbar. Extra ordinary decisions are taken under extraordinary circumstances hence till June 15 the ‘move’ is suspended and it is naturally that if situation improved considerably, then in that case, the decision could be reviewed accordingly. However, specific guidelines for offices with essential services category are that they will be fully functional.
