SRINAGAR, Apr 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today questioned the UT Administration over failing to bring back stranded students and labourers from various parts of the country and sought their immediate return.
The party has also questioned that when UP, Gujarat and Bihar Govts could bring their people back to their States, why the JK administration seems reluctant to adopt the same policy.
In a statement, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G A Mir has slammed the UT Administration over not bringing back the students and labourers stranded in other States to their homes, describing this attitude of the Government as very unfortunate and heart burning.
Mir expressed disappointment over the difficulties confronting stranded people, saying that UT administration must focus on this humanitarian issues and take effective measures to bring stranded people back to their homes.
“The UP, Gujarat and Bihar Governments have brought their people back to the homes within no time, what is the problem with the JK administration? Why the decision about their return was not taken so far?” G A Mir questioned while reiterating that apart from addressing other issues, the administration must bring back the stranded people on war footing basis.
“I would urge upon the Lt Governor GC Murmu to have the matter sorted out by attaching huge importance to this humanitarian issue in order to ensure they (students and laboures) reach their homes at the earliest, keeping in view the simmering summer and upcoming holy month of Ramadhan,” G A Mir added and sought immediate action by the administration in this direction.
