Weapon snatching bid foiled, two accused arrested in Shopian

SRINAGAR: Police on Tuesday foiled a weapon snatching bid by arresting two accused, who tried to decamp with the service rifle of a policeman at a checkpoint in south Kashmir district of Shopian.

A police official said a weapon snatching bid by two car-borne youth after hitting a policeman was foiled on Tuesday evening at a checkpoint in Shopian. “The culprit were chased and caught by alert police team lead by two officers,” he said, adding interrogation of the culprits was going on when the reports last came in.  More details are awaited, he added.
