Col Palta takes over as PRO Defence

JAMMU, May 16: Col R K Palta has taken over as new PRO in Jammu Defence office.
Hailing from Chandigarh, Col Palta was commissioned in 15 Punjab (Ist Patiala- famous for Zojila battle), an elite Infantry unit of the Army, on passing out from Indian Military Academy (Dehradun) in 1982. He had the privilege of having participated in the raising of two new Infantry units, namely- Punjab Regiment and JAK LI.
A Postgraduate in English, Col Palta has also completed his Masters in Communication from Bangalore University. Prior to this posting, he was posted as PRO Defence at Kohima (Nagaland). He also served as PRO, Defene Jodhpur from 2004 to 2007. He had a tenure with Tiger Division, Satwari headquarters in Jammu from 2002 to 2004.
Col Palta has also commanded an Instructional Provost Unit in the Corps of Military Police Centre & School, Bangalore, besides serving as General Staff Officer (Op) of an Infantry Division and the GSO (HR) of CI Force in Rashtriya Rifles in J&K.
