Rs 34 cr made available for upkeep of HT/LT network: Govt

JAMMU, Apr 5:
The Government today said over Rs 34 crore, excluding the salaries, were made available to the Power Development Department for upkeep and maintenance of High Tension and Low Tension (HT/LT) network in the State under maintenance grants.
Replying to a question by Congress legislator, Subash Chander Gupta, in the legislative council here, Minister of State for Power, Vikar Rasool, said upkeep and maintenance of HT/LT network is a routine charge on Non-Plan Budget and presently, an amount of Rs 34.06 crore is made available under Maintenance grants, other than salaries for manpower of PDD, for Power Development.
He added during financial year 2011-12 with the increase of Constituency Development Fund grants per legislator per year, from Rs 50.00 lakh to Rs 1 crore and subsequently from Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.50 crore, an inbuilt provision was kept in CDF grants of legislators for HT/LT improvement up to Rs 25 lakh, which is still continuing.
