JAMMU, Apr 23: Emphasizing the need to re-examine guidelines related to healthcare services made available to the people of J&K in the wake of Corona pandemic, Congress leader Virender Singh Chib appealed Central Government to go one step further and frame policies on the basis of ground level assessment and recent experiences.
In a press statement here today, Chib revealed that he came across a number of cases where people having chronic ailments or having flu like symptoms found hard to contact health care providers designated for the aforesaid purpose, and most of them have even fear to visit hospital emergency due to the high transmission character attached to this pandemic. No doubt, government has adopted cluster approach to restrict this pandemic to several areas and largely successful in this endeavour but now the issues related to accessibility and availability of healthcare providers/ services is taking toll on physical and psychological well-being of people.
At this juncture, it is important to designate a team of healthcare providers for different geographical divisions within urban as well as rural areas for immediate help. Moreover, there are numerous private hospital/nursing clinics operating in our vicinity that must be directed to cooperate with existing preparedness. Even though administration can also make use of video conferencing by initiating e-OPD, e-Consultation, the successful operation of which requires restoration of 4G services, he added.
