Sukhnandan lambasts admn for ignoring farmers issues

JAMMU, Apr 25: Admini-stration is not paying any heed to the problems of the farmers said Choudhary Sukhnandan ex MLA Marh. He requested the Lieutenant Governor, Murmu to intervene in the matter. As Government has not provided machines to the farmers for harvesting wheat crop there is also apprehension of fire incidents as the farmers on the other side of International Border are harvesting crops in full swing. Last year many acres of standing wheat crop was burnt due to firing from Pakistan side, he added.
Choudhary said as the Government has not allowed the combine machines from Punjab to enter Jammu and Kashmir problem of harvesting the crop has increased many folds. He asked the Government to allow the machines to enter Jammu and Kashmir. Government should provide harvesting machines to the farmers so that harvesting can done timely.
As the Government has not established procurement centers (Mandies) for procurement, the farmers will be facing problems of selling their produce. He lambasted the Government officials for not taking the problems of farmers seriously. If Government fails to establish procurement centers the farmers will be forced sell their produce at lower rates which will be disastrous for farming community. The farmers are the worst hit by the lockdown, he added.
