Kavinder demands compensation for Auto, Taxi drivers

JAMMU, Apr 25: Former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta toured Channi , Trikuta Nagar, Chatha and Sheikh Nagar Bahu falling in Gandhi Nagar Constituency to know about the welfare of the inhabitants and distributed daily essentials amongst needy persons there.
Gupta distributed ration and face masks at Chatha, Channi and Sheikh Nagar. He was accompanied by Rajeev Charak, Vinay Gupta, Ankush Gupta, Narinder Gupta, Neena Gupta, Sharda Devi, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Pardeep Kour, M.P Singh, Dalbir Singh, Vivek Patyal, Nayan Gupta and Anil. On the occasion, Gupta said that the Government is very aware about its responsibilities towards its citizens. He said that natural calamities and COVID-19 like epidemic can come but we will not allow people to suffer because of that. Gupta added that under the leadership, effective policy & planning by Prime Minister Modi, we have been successful to control the spread of COVID-19 unlike other advanced countries.
He said India being 2nd most populated country across globe and still categorized in ‘developing country’ has 18 cases/million of population as compared to sky touching graph of developed countries besides the fact that they have contingency management plans and effective healthcare system, whereby they still are not able to control the spread of epidemic effectively.
Gupta added people should behave sensibly and follow the preventive measures as notified by the Union Government or the respective State Governments.
Later in the evening, while responding to PM Narendra Modi and BJP national president, JP Nadda ‘s call, Gupta along with BJP district Jammu team met and honored the municipal warriors from Gandhi Nagar Constituency in Ward-54, who are performing their duties, in true spirits, to control the spread of heaps of garbage which can further lead to spread of diseases during the lockdown period, by risking their lives for the sake of citizens.
Meanwhile, Kavinder Gupta also issued a statement thereby requesting a comprehensive compensation plan for the Auto Rickshaw drivers and taxi drivers who are badly affected and are not able to earn their livelihood. Lt. Governor administration may kindly provide the funds to the Transport Department to be disbursed to these drivers as they are very much co-operating with the administration by abiding to the lockdown orders.
Gupta also stressed for the credentials of elderly, who are either living alone or away from their families and support network. Gupta said the volunteers have to carry all the necessary contact details of the senior citizens and the essentials they need, in terms of food and medicine.
