JAMMU, Apr 5: State Government Employees Joint Action Committee (GEJAC) has taken strong exception to the recent circular by the General Administration Department issuing direction for discontinuation of all the daily wagers engaged after 1994.
The Government Circular number 09/GAD, dated 26-3—2013 stating that all daily wagers engaged after 1994 should be continued, is in contradiction to the stand of Government,  which has repeatedly agreed in principle for all the daily wagers,” said Sushil Sudan, senior leader of GEJAC, while addressing a press conference along with  Suresh Sharma and others, here today.
He stressed that the Government should immediately make clarification over the fate   of daily wagers engaged after 1994 and before 2005.  Without any delay, the Government should regularize all the daily wagers, consolidated, contractual and adhoc employees engaged before 2005,” Mr Sudan said.
At the same time, the GEJAC leaders also appealed all the daily wagers to remain united and ready for an agitation programme in case the Government fails to roll back its decision on the issue.
Without naming anyone, Mr Sudan alleged that some retired employees were playing in the hands of their political masters in the Government and propagating unhealthy trade unionism. “We wish these leader good luck on their retirement from active service and advice them that they should now watch the interests of pensioners leaving the fate of employees on trade union bodies handled by the leaders in service,” said Suresh Sharma. He also condemned the arrest of senior trade union leader Aijaz Ahmed Khan who was allegedly implicated in a false case on the behest of some rival trade union leader.
On the occasion, the GEJAC leaders also highlighted several demands of the Joint Action Committee and alleged that the Government was not sincere in conceding the same. They demanded cash payment of balanced arrears of 6th Pay Commission, increase of the Medical Allowance to Rs 1000, removal of pay anomalies in all cadres, review of budgetary support to the PSUs, payment of arrears and timely salary, qualifying service at par with the Centre and removal of restrictions on withdrawal of GP Fund.  They also demanded settlement of demands of SRTC employees who have opted for VRS and are not paid their legitimate dues.
GEJAC leader Subash Verma, Darshan Magotra, Suman Sharma, Rinku Gill and others were also present in the press conference.
