JAMMU, Apr 28: To provide an assured income support to the small and marginal farmers amid COVID-19 lockdown, the Government has released instalments to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) beneficiaries across the country.
The Jammu and Kashmir beneficiaries of this scheme after receiving the instalments amid lockdown appreciated the Govt for timely release of the amount and said that they were using the same for carrying agricultural activities.
Dharm Chand, of village Flote, district Kathua said that being entirely dependent on farming for livelihood, the assistance of two thousand under this scheme has been helpful amid lockdown.
He further said that the farmers have only been able to start agricultural activities upon receiving the financial assistance and have bought seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural implements.
Raj Kumari, of village Sila, Reasi expressed her gratitude towards the Prime Minister and the Government of India for the relief provided to her family under PM Kisan during COVID-19 lockdown and said that the harvesting of wheat has only been possible after relaxation on agricultural activity by the government and by the financial assistance received under this scheme during lockdown.
Abdul Rasheed of Chadoora Budgam appreciated the Government of India for providing timely relief to him during COVID-19 lockdown under PM Kisan and said that it helped him to buy fertilizers and fungicides for his apple orchards.
“The much needed assistance came at the right time when it was needed the most as nothing is left with us as everything has been spent during lockdown on other essentials,” he added.
Ganesh Khajuria, of Pallad, Kathua also expressed his gratitude towards the Govt. for providing him financial assistance of 2000 under PMKisan and said that the decision of the Government to release instalments under this scheme amid lockdown is highly appreciable.
