Irate villagers of Koota block National Highway

KATHUA, Apr 5: The irate villagers of Koota and adjoining areas led by Sarpanch Vijay Tagotra in protest against the water scarcity. The protestors blocked National Highway for one hour this afternoon in the area.
The people resorted to blockade of National Highway as Sarpanch of the Panchayat  Koota and its Panchs were already sitting on fast for last several days in protest against the water crisis but Government failed to pay attention to the problem.
The protestors raising slogans against the administration alleged that the people of the area were facing acute water scarcity and the PHE authorities have failed to solve the problem despite the hunger strike launched by Sarpanch and Panchs.
The road blockade was later lifted with the assurance of Xen PHE Vinod Gupta and Tehsildar Hiranagar who were deputed by DC Kathua, Jitendra Paul Singh to ascertain the situation.
The officers assured the protesters that the problem will be solved soon.
The Hiranagar villages were facing acute water scarcity as 10 stations are totally closed while the boring for six stations was done but no installation has been made.
The protestors said that the Government has failed to address the water scarcity problem in Hiranagar forcing the people to come to streets.
