JAMMU, Apr 29: Katra police busted inter state gang of thieves.
As per police spokesman, presently the shops, hotels and other establishments of Katra town are closed due to ongoing lockdown during COVID-19 pandemic.
Taking advantage of the situation, a gang of thieves mostly the drug addicts adopting different modus operandi conducted thefts at different places in Katra town and for that cases under FIR Numbers 43/2020, 74/2020 and 79/2020 were registered at Police Station Katra.
Consequently, Katra Police intensified night patrolling to check this menace, as some of the shops and hotels of Katra town do not have closures/shutters.

Accordingly, a special team headed by Inspector Varinder Singh and SHO Katra Inspector Pardeep Gupta under the supervision of SDPO Katra Kuljit Singh SDPO Katra, Additional SP Katra Naresh Singh and SSP Reasi Rashmi Wazir was constituted.
Working on these cases, Katra Police succeeded in apprehending 4 thieves namely Jatin Bhati, son of Rakesh Kumar of Amritsar, at present Katra, Shankar Singh, son of Madan Singh of Pathankote at present Katra, Tuhit, son of Khan Mohammad of Haryana at present Katra and Rajat Kumar, son of Rajesh Kumar of Paroh Tehsil Katra District Reasi. Some scrap dealers of Katra town who purchased the stolen items from these thieves were also arrested.
The stolen items which were recovered include LEDs, water motor, water pump, small and big batteries, copper and aluminum wires, plastic pipe, patillas, gas patthi, frying pan, Rs 8500 cash and tapes. The approximate value of the recovered property is around Rs 2 lakh.
Further investigations of the cases are going on.
