NC demands bringing back Udhampur residents

UDHAMPUR, Apr 29: The District President of National Conference, Sunil Verma has demanded immediate bringing back stranded people and labourers who have gone to work outside the J&K from various tehsils of Chenani, Ghordi, Ramnagar, Dudu Basantgarh etc in Udhampur district.
Verma said that the people of the district, who used to work on the dhabas and roads on the highway in Pune, Maharashtra and others working as driver in load carriers or as labourers are stuck due the lock down and have been badly affected. Labourers are on the verge of starving as they are not getting any ration to eat as no one from the administration is there to help them, he added.
Sunil Verma said that locals from Ramnagar, Chenani and Ghoradi region contacted him and apprised that more than 1000 people from the district are working in different areas in Pune, Maharashtra and stuck there after the lockdown.
The National Conference leader urged the Lt Governor and District Development Commissioner Dr Piyush Singla for suitable arrangement to bring these labourers back to their homes.
