3 drug peddlers arrested, 3 kg charas recovered

RAJOURI, Apr 30: Foiling a major bid of smuggling of narcotics and drugs in Rajouri, the police arrested three person and recovered a major consignment of 3 kilograms of charas from their possession.
A police official giving details said that Rajouri police party headed by Deputy SP Headquarters, Surinder Khadyar and Station House Officer Rajouri Sameer Jillani under the supervision of Additional SP Rajouri, Liyaqit Ali during routine naka at Khandli bridge intercepted a vehicle.
Tata Magic load carrier bearing registration No. JK11D/ 3016 was seen coming towards naka point. The driver along with two more associates abandoned the vehicle on road and tried to flee from the spot.
Alert cops chased all the three and managed to nab them at some distance and during frisking, a consignment of three kilograms of Charas like substance was recovered from the possession of these three persons,” official said.
They have been identified as Deepak Sharma, son of Romesh Chander, resident of Dhangri Rajouri; Sonu Sharma, son of Yog Raj Sharma, resident of Palma Rajouri and Shami Kumar, son of Suresh Kumar, resident of Dalhana, Badherwah of district Doda.
The said vehicle was seized whereas a case in FIR No. 224/2020 under sections 8(a)/20/29/60/NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Rajouri. The investigation into the matter was in progress.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Chandan Kohli said that arrest of these three is a major success for police as trio was about to smuggle a big consignment towards Palma area for further peddling of narcotics in the area. He also appealed all the parents and guardians to keep a close vigil on their wards, which acts as primary deterrent towards the menace of narcotics addiction.
