148 bovine animals rescued, 11 vehicles seized

UDHAMPUR, May 4: In a major success, Udhampur Police today rescued 148 bovine animals and seized 11 vehicles even as the smugglers managed to flee taking advantage of the darkness.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that a Police patrolling parties of PS Udhampur, led by SHO Vijay Singh Choudhary under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur and Dr Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur, intercepted of 11 vehicles , including 10 trucks and one Tata Mobile at different locations on the NHW.
These vehicles were intercepted at Battal Ballian , Bali Nallah Toldi , Thard and during checking, bovine animals were found illegally and cruelly loaded in all these vehicles. Taking advantage of darkness, drivers of these vehicles managed to flee.
Police rescued the animals and seized the vehicle, the registration numbers of which are; JK02AG-8031, JK03G- 4627, JK14B -8523, JK03E -2085, JK02AS -7981, JK02AH -5977, JK14-3771, JK02AC -2967, JK02AP- 5733, JK03D -7802, JK14G -3881.
In this connection, cases were registered at Police Station Udhampur under relevant sections of law and further investigation is going on.
