UDHAMPUR, May 7: Senior BJP leader and party vice president, Pawan Khajuria today urged the district administration Udhampur to shift the proposed Quarantine Centre from the town to some other place so that the local people are not affected and the virus will not spread in the town.
Talking to reporters here, today Khajuria said that the Government has proposed to establish the Quarantine Centre and sample collection centre in Udhampur town for the positive cases of erstwhile Doda and Udhampur districts.
Khajuria said three days back he had cautioned the district administration against the same also. He said by establishing quarantine centre within the town the people have got scared as in the vicinity of these centers the shops of books, grocery, medicines etc exist and people visit there daily. By opening quarantine centers near these business establishments the people face threat of the spread of pandemic, he added.
He said that Udhampur people have always cooperated with administration but when they are put to problems deliberately by the administration the people don’t hesitate in opposing such decisions. He, while highlighting the problems being faced by small shopkeepers and owners of other business establishments due to lockdown urged the Government to take care of them and they should be allowed to open their business establishments turn by turn.
He said the issue has also been brought in the notice of Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh who also represents Doda, Kathua and Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency.
