JAMMU, May 8: National Student Union of India (NSUI) today expressed serious concern over the non operational helpline numbers, announced by the Government to help stranded people outside J&K.
While interacting with media persons here, NSUI president, Neeraj Kundan said that the Government should formulate a proper plan to bring back the residents of the Union Territory including students and migrant workers stuck outside.
Sharing the truth about the non operational helpline numbers, he said that the Government should launch more helpline numbers and make them fully operational.
Kundan alleged that the students who were brought back from the Punjab, were treated inhumanly. There were no availability of basic amenities like water bottles, refreshments etc. There was no measure to follow the social distancing as the buses were over crowded. He demanded that the stranded student should be brought home by the trains.
He advised the authorities to take the matter into consideration and take further steps. He also appealed the Government to check the accountability of the existing helpline numbers.
