11 gamblers arrested with Rs 82300 stake money

RAJOURI, May 9: The police today nabbed 11 persons who were gambling inside a house near Salani bridge in Rajouri town and recovered Rs 82,300 stake money from their possession.
A senior police officer said that on a specific information, a police team headed by SHO Rajouri, Sameer Jillani under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarter, Surinder Khadyar rushed to the spot and found gambling activity going on in the house with a huge amount of stake money.
Eleven persons involved in the act were arrested on the spot. They include Rahul Gupta, son of Kulbushan Gupta; Rakesh Kumar, son of Puran Chand; Piyush Mahajan, son of Rakesh Kumar; Sanjay Sharma, son of Kali Dass; Vishal Sawhney, son of Romel Sawhney; Suchit Gupta, son of Yashpal Gupta; Kapil Sharma son of Sat Pal Sharma; Suneet Sapotra, son of Mohan Lal; Neeraj Sharma, son of Romesh Chander; Wahid Khan, son of Nazeer Hussain and Rahul Sharma, son of Ashok Kumar- all residents of Rajouri town.
Police recovered and seized Rs 82,300 stake money and playing cards from them.
All the accused have been booked by police in a case FIR No. 239/2020 under relevant sections of Gambling Act as well as for violation of lockdown order by District Magistrate Rajouri amid Corona virus pandemic.
