JAMMU, May 9: The district administration has allowed certain shopkeepers dealing in non-essential commodities to open their shops for few hours on Sunday for maintenance purposes. However, they will not indulge in any kind of sale during the period.
SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil told the Excelsior that the district administration has allowed shopkeepers dealing in the business of clothes, garments and shoes to open their shops from 11 am to 3 pm for maintenance purposes.
The shopkeepers had approached civil and police administration for opening of their shops to check the goods.
Patil said the shopkeepers have been told not to indulge in any kind of sale during the period.
He said the administration was considering opening of some shops like those dealing in electronics as fans have become essential item during summer after couple of days.
However, a final decision will be taken at a meeting by the civil administration, he added.
