Srinagar, May 9: Two nurses of Super Specialty Hospital Shireenbagh Srinagar and an attendant of a patient was among 13 people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Kashmir today taking the number of Corona positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 836.
Nodal Officer at Government Medical College Srinagar Dr Saleem Khan told Excelsior that out of 463 samples processed at CD Hospital’s virology lab, six tested positive for COVID-19.
Among the six, two are from Srinagar. One is 65-year-old man from Dabtal Zainakadal and another 40-year-old woman from Saidapora Eidgah. They have a travel history to New Delhi. A 62-year-old woman from Awantipora in district Pulwama tested positive.
Three other cases are from Super Specialty Hospital Shireen Bagh and include two staff nurses. They are 41-year-old nurse from Shopian and 26-year-old nurse from Larnoo and the other is 35-year-old woman who is an attendant of a patient from Shahlatoo, Shopian.
The Medical Superintendent of SKIMS hospital in Srinagar said that 947 samples were processed at the Virology Diagnostic Lab of the SKIMS and six tested positive for the Coranvirus.
Four are from Ganderbal district including 22-year-old and 27-year-old men from Chanthun Lar, 32-year-old man from Waliwar and 22-year-old man from Kangan.
The two others are from Goonipora Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district and include 39 and 55-years-old men. All the six cases at SKIMS have no history of travel and are contacts of previous positive cases.
Jammu and Kashmir has now 836 positive cases—767 in Kashmir and 69 in Jammu. Among them 368 persons have recovered including 4 patients who recovered today and nine others have died, leaving active cases at 459—13 in Jammu and 446 in Kashmir.
With these cases, Bandipora has 134 positive cases including 58 active, followed by Srinagar with 131cases including 52 active, Anantnag has 122 cases with 120 active, Baramulla 106 cases with 58 active, Shopian has 100 cases with 53 active, Kupwara 71 cases with 38 active, Budgam 46 cases with 33 active, Ganderbal 23 cases with 9 active, Kulgam has 21 cases with 16 active and Pulwama has 12 positive cases with 9 active.
So far, 90541 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 20092 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 167 in Hospital Quarantine, 459 in hospital isolation and 9244 under home surveillance. Besides, 60570 persons have completed their surveillance period.
And in the meantime, the lockdown in Kashmir continued for 52nd day today. Police and para-military forces are deployed across Kashmir to enforce the lockdown. People with COVID-19 passes issued by the administration are being permitted to move around.
