Life returns to normal in Kashmir, famous Sunday market open

SRINAGAR :  Life returned to normal in the Kashmir valley after a partail bandh yesterday on a call by Muttahida Majlis-e Mushawarat (MMM) an alliance of different separatist organisations, demanding mortal remains of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and founder of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Mohammad Maqbool Bhat.
Guru was hanged on February 9 this year while Bhat was sent to gallows in 1984 and later both were buried in Delhi’s Tihar jail.
Majority shops were open and traffic was plying on all  routes normally in the summer capital, Srinagar, and other major towns and tehsil headquarters.
The famous ‘ Sunday Market’ from Radio Kashmir, Srinagar, crossing to Hari Singh High Streets witnessed heavy rush since this morning.
Hundreds of vendors had set up their stalls on both sides  of about 3-km-long road, attracting buyers from different parts of the valley.
