RAMBAN, May 10: Former MLA and senior Congress leader today urged the Government to announce financial and rehabilitation packages for all migrant labourers and daily rated workers who have lost their jobs during the lockdown.
In a statement issued here, he demanded the Government should provide Rs 75 lakh per family to migrant labourers who have recently died in a train and truck accident while going back to their native places under the lockdown due to pandemic.
“In several places the poor migrant labourers have staged protests for their early evacuation but both the Central and States Governments have not taken it seriously. Therefore, these beleaguered migrant labourers had decided to reach home on foot by travelling nearly about 1000 to 2000 km, that too, without food and money,” said Former MLA.
He further said that the Central and State Governments must provide more free air, trains and buses transportation for their evacuation from respective states that too without any further delay. In addition, the arrangements of food, water and medicines should also be provided to these beleaguered migrant labourers by following COVID-19 protocols.
Meanwhile, he stressed upon the Government to provide financial packages to the owner of the respective industries and other related established businesses who are also under massive financial crunch in order to kick start economic processes.
