JAMMU, May 12: Former Member of Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa has demanded a special relief package for the auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers of Jammu to compensate them for the losses suffered by them during the ongoing lockdown.
While distributing ration and masks among poor and needy people of Dhunni Chand Mohhalla, Gandhi Nagar, Randhawa said that tourism is the backbone of J&K economy which is giving employment to thousands of youth.
He also said that auto and taxi drivers are directly connected with the tourism industry wherein many are also owners of the vehicles which they purchased after securing bank loans to feed their families from the daily earnings drawn from their vehicles.
Randhawa also said that people have to learn new etiquettes to live with Coronavirus till some vaccine is discovered.
He hailed the steps taken by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to contain the spread of COVID-19 in India.
Those present on the occasion were Bharat Bhushan, Mandal Pradhan; Ex-Councillor, Paramjeet Singh, Vijay Sharma, Vikram Kumar and others.
