Kargil declared COVID-19 positive free for second time

KARGIL, May 15: Kargil became COVID-19 positive free district for the second time after the two COVID-19 positive patients including a two year old boy after testing negative were discharged from the dedicated COVID-19 Hospital Kurbathang here, today.
Besides, these two cured COVID-19 positive patients, six suspected COVID-19 negative patients were also discharged.
The concerned BMOs were directed to ensure strict institutional and home quarantine of the discharged patients as per the SOPs and guidelines.
Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan and Deputy Commissioner, Kargil Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary were also present on the occasion.
The CEC and the DC Kargil along with the doctors and paramedics accorded a warm send off to the patients and presenting them traditional khataks. Deputy Commissioner, Kargil also presented a gift to the 2 year old boy.
CEC Feroz Khan while congratulating the people of Kargil, administration, doctors, paramedics, and all frontline warriors for their tireless efforts to make Kargil COVID-19 positive free appealed the people to strictly adhere to the SOPs and guidelines and directions of the administration as the threat of the spread COVID-19 is still there.
As regards to the evacuation of residents from different parts of the country, the CEC said that the process of evacuation is continuing in full swing and more than 12000 people including students stranded outside Ladakh are expected to reach Kargil in days to come.
“With the influx of residents to the district in thousands, there is increased risk of COVID-19 infection and the responsibility for strictly adhering to preventive measures and adherence to SOPs is of paramount importance, every individual ought to play his part”, the CEC said.
Khan further said that more than 300 stranded pilgrims in Iran are expected to be evacuated in the coming days.
The CEC and the DC Kargil appealed the general public to cooperate with the administration to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the district by strictly following the quarantine measures.
The CEC said that certain reports of violation were received by the Government and added that those violating the SOPs and quarantine measures will be dealt with strictly under law.
