Delegation of Ladakh Chamber of Industries calls on Advisor Narula

LEH, May 15: A delegation of Ladakh Chamber of Industries led by its Chairman Tashi Gyaltsen met Advisor Umang Narula at UT Secretariat Ladakh.
The delegation apprised the Advisor of the issues being faced by the members of Ladakh Chamber of Industries.
While elaborating the issues the members stated that due to unavailability of sufficient local raw material and skilled manpower, the cost of production in Ladakh is comparatively higher than the rest of the country and therefore the local MSME sector of Ladakh require special purchase preference in all the government purchases of Ladakh Administration.
They further apprised that they are mainly manufacturing wooden and steel furniture, steel fabricated items, aluminum fabrications, Plastic storage tanks, tiles, Cattle feed, processed food items and local woolen and pashmina products etc.
The Advisor advised the members to take benefits of the incentives provided under the industrial policy.
He also asked the members to register their products on GeM portal so that they can trade with the prospective buyers.
He assured them that the Industries department will be asked to conduct an awareness programme regarding GeM and incentives available to MSMEs.
Regarding the demand for special purchase preference to the local manufacturers; he stated that the matter will be examined for appropriate action.
