KATHUA, May 18: The people in quarantine centers at different places in Samba and Kathua district held protest demonstrations today against the authorities for their failure in providing adequate facilities to them and also came on National Highway to stage the demonstration.
As per reports the passengers who reached by train to Jammu this morning from Bangalore and Mumbai were taken for quarantine to different quarantine centers in Kathua district. However, after reaching Kathua these passengers alleged that they were kept waiting for hours together and neither they were served the breakfast nor tea up to the afternoon.
They also alleged that they were not provided any facility and kept waiting for a long time after reaching Kathua. Taking serious exception to the failure of administration in making adequate and proper arrangements for them and shifting them from Jammu to Kathua these passengers held a protest demonstration in front of DC Office, Kathua today and alleged that this way they were put to lot of humiliation by the authorities.
Another protest was held by people quarantined at Quarantine Centre Jatwal in Samba district where they have been put for last 14 days while one jawan who was also quarantined in the same centre has been there for last 16 days said the protestors. They also took march to National Highway in Jatwal and disrupted the movement of vehicular traffic for some time.
Later the SDM Ghagwal, Ramesh Sharma reached on the spot and pacified the protestors saying that their issue will be sorted out immediately.
Some students who were taken for testing to GMC Rajouri alleged that one of them who came from HP was taken to Sunderbani and kept for one night there without food. Later he along with other students was taken to GMC Rajouri for collection of samples which were not taken for the whole day besides no breakfast and lunch was served to them.
Residents of Block H Subash Nagar said that a family came from Srinagar and was kept in Home Quarantine in the two quarters in the colony. But neither their samples were taken, nor the area was isolated. The inhabitants said in case any member of the family tested positive later he will spell a doom in all the quarters as there is no restriction on their movement. Meanwhile the 40 students from Bangalore quarantined at Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust Narwal since May 6 are waiting for their test reports which have not come during last six days. The inmates said the authorities are silent on the test results while those who came two days after them were relived.
Same has been the allegation of the people quarantined at Yog Ashram Gole Gujral and they alleged that the results of some of the samples taken on May 14 have reached while others are pending. The authorities are not giving any proper reply when the results of tests will reach. They said the samples of a brother- sister duo were taken in the same kit while that of sister came and her brother’s is still awaited.
