4 females including 2 patients among 14 test Corona positive in Jammu

Two recalled on way to GMC on confusion over reports

JAMMU, May 18: Fourteen persons including four females, two of them patients, tested positive in nine out of 10 districts of Jammu today taking total number of Corona patients in the region to 163 and active cases to 101 as two more trains reached Jammu and Udhampur today carrying around 1400 passengers and three others were scheduled to reach tomorrow.

Confusion prevailed in Poonch district where two persons including a Community Health Centre (CHC) Surankote employee declared positive for COVID-19 in the morning were recalled in the afternoon when they were on way to the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri as their code numbers didn’t match with the reports.
“Two persons of Poonch district tested positive for COVID this morning and they were accordingly being shifted to the GMC Rajouri when the administration received reports of tests conducted by private Lal Path laboratory. Though names of the persons were almost similar, there was variation of codes. Accordingly, both the patients have been recalled on way to the hospital,’’ SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said, adding that real positives are being ascertained.
A fresh test of some suspects might be conducted tomorrow, he added.
The positives declared earlier included a Nursing Orderly of CHC Surankote . Both of them were residents of Surankote.
District Magistrate Jammu Sushma Chouhan today extended restrictions imposed on movement of individuals for non-essential activities between 7 pm to 7 am in the district till May 31. This was done following extension of lockdown by the Central Government till May 31.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla told the Excelsior that a train from Chennai in Tamil Nadu carrying 519 passengers reached Udhampur today while three trains from Bengaluru, Muradabad and New Delhi will reach tomorrow with approximate 2500 stranded persons of Jammu and Kashmir.
A 30-year old woman, a resident of Langar, Kaluchak in Jammu district, who had returned recently along with her husband and six-year old son from AIIMS New Delhi, tested Corona positive today. Her husband and son will be sampled tomorrow. The woman was under home quarantine in view of her medical history.
SHO Gangyal Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia led police teams visited the area and isolated family members for quarantine and sampling. The area will be sealed tomorrow after being declared as Containment Zone.
A 70-year old woman of Qasim Nagar near Bagh-e-Bahu in Jammu, who had returned from New Delhi and was under administrative quarantine at MA Stadium, has also tested positive for COVID-19.
Police parties from Bagh-e-Bahu police station led by SHO Inspector Sunil Kumar reached Qasim Nagar and sent four contacts of the woman to quarantine centre.
Both the COVID positive woman of Kaluchak and Qasim Nagar, who were asymptomatic, have been admitted in the Gandhi Nagar hospital.
A 19-year old female student of Astan Mohalla, Doda, who was studying at Pune in Maharashtra and had been operated upon at Ludhiana, also tested Corona positive today. She was first Corona patient in Doda district.
SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmad said all contacts of the girl have been isolated for quarantine for sampling. The girl had reached Doda on May 15, he added.
Kishtwar district also recorded its first Corona case today when 25-year old student of Kishtwar town, who had returned from Ludhiana and was under administrative quarantine, tested positive for COVID-19, DC Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara said, adding he has been sent to the hospital while his contacts have been isolated.
A 27-year old woman from village Chak Bhagwa in Samba district has also tested positive for COVID-19. She had recently visited SMGS Hospital for medical examination as she had symptoms of the virus and was sent for testing by the doctors.
Two persons from Ramnagar—one hailing from village Satyalata and another from Barmeen—in Udhampur district tested positive today.
Both of them were workers and had returned from New Delhi recently. They were already under administrative quarantine.
Two youth from village Kanthol in Koteranka tehsil of Rajouri district, who had returned from Mumbai, have also tested Corona positive. They were under administrative quarantine at Rajouri.
Two persons of Kathua district hailing from Hatli Morh and Nagri, who had returned from Maharashtra and New Delhi respectively, have reported positive for Coronavirus, District Magistrate Kathua OP Bhagat said.

With today’s 14 positive cases, Jammu region now has 163 cases. Of them, 101 were positive cases. There have been 60 recoveries and two deaths in Jammu region.
The Command Hospital Udhampur has so far conducted 14380 Coronavirus tests. Of them, 114 were positive and rest all negative, Lt Col Inam Danish Khan told the Excelsior.
The Hospital conducted 12220 Screening tests and 1575 confirmatory tests, Lt Col Khan said.
Meanwhile, in addition to facilitate smooth arrival and dispatch of returnees of UT of Jammu & Kashmir, the Lakhanpur Facilitation Centre is now also facilitating labourers reaching Lakhanpur for onward journey to their native states.
Witnessing increased footfall of labourers from the last few days, the Lakhanpur Centre has facilitated labourers in arranging vehicles for onward regulated movement to their respective locations.  The labourers reaching Lakhanpur mostly by foot have to undergo medical screening and are permitted to go in buses with half of its seating capacity to maintain social distancing norms.
As per the data given by Lakhanpur Facilitation Centre, over 350 vehicles carrying 10817 labourers who were stuck in Jammu & Kashmir were dispatched to their home States.
