Leh, May 19: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R.K. Mathur met the representatives of Merchant Association, here today.
The delegation apprised the Lt. Governor that over 95% of shopkeepers run their business on bank finances and with the unprecedented and drastic fall in their business it has become a huge challenge for them to sustain their business, meet their regular expenses of paying property rents, electricity bills, repayment of loans and interests, etc.
The delegation made an appeal to the UT Administration on behalf of all the shopkeepers of Leh district to provide financial assistance through a comprehensive financial aid plan for all the shopkeepers.
They also expressed their commitment to respect the guidelines issued by the government and to continue with their support in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.
