JAMMU, May 19: Prof Bhim Singh, chief patron of J&K National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has urged the President of India to intervene without any delay to save the lives of the jobless youth returning to their homes in Jammu province from outside the UT of J&K.
“Thousands of youth/workers after fired from their jobs because of closure of working places outside J&K, are forced to return homes. Their return could not be possible because of lockdown and closure of all trains, buses, roads and everything,” Prof Singh said while addressing a press conference at Jammu.
He said though Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ensured return of all migrant workers by providing them free transport but he regretted that the trains were started only from chosen places and thousands of workers were left untouched and they are ringing every hour calling for help and most of them are held up in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and other states.
Prof Bhim Singh urged the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind for his immediate intervention to direct J&K Lt Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to tone up the sick administration at middle and lower level to resolve day today issues arising due to spread of Coronavirus.
He demanded limited train services to resume from Jammu to UP, Bihar, Maharashtra and back to ferry poor workers to reach their respective locations. He said that in absence of any mode of Government regulated transport on the much sought after routes from J&K to other towns in the country, some unscrupulous private bus operators are charging exorbitant rates from the hard pressed workers from Lakhanpur/Madhopur (Punjab) side to ferry them to UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh etc.
