JAMMU, May 19: Jammu Warriors Front (JWF) Chairman Rajesh Gupta has took strong exception against the move of the Government with regard to the privatization of power sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the J&K Power Development Department is being reconstituted into four Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
“Such move of the Government not only will allow the private sector to intervene in the department’s functioning but also put the jobs of PDD employees at stake,” he said, JWF strongly oppose such move and to ensure that employees’ interests were kept on mind before taking any decision to unbundle the department.
Gupta alleged that the Government was not clarifying about the future of the employees after the PDD would be bifurcated between Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
“It is estimated that about 30,000 employees will be affected by the decision of the Government to reorganize the PDD”, he added.
He asked the Government to immediately shelve this decision as this is against the interests of employees, daily wagers, need based employees who are rendering their services for the last more than 20 years to the department.
