JAMMU, May 19: Twelve more returnees from outside the Union Territory tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu today taking total number of cases in the region to 175 while two patients in Jammu district recovered from the virus and were discharged.
Out of 12 positives today, two cases were reported from Jammu district, both of whom were females, four in Kathua, three Udhampur, two Ramban and one in Rajouri district.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Jammu Sushma Chouhan told the Excelsior tonight that the UT Government order on relaxation during lockdown 4.0 will be implemented in Jammu district in full but there will be major emphasis on physical distancing and the violations will be dealt with very seriously.

“Jammu is now Orange Zone district and will have relaxations as per the UT Government order. Emphasis is on maintenance of physical distancing and violations will be dealt with sternly. No parking will be allowed in market areas and inside shops. In four-wheelers two persons can move with driver and no pillion rider will be allowed on two wheelers,” she said.
Chouhan said full sampling at Railway Station of all incoming passengers has reduced administrative quarantine timing of the persons from 28 days to just 5-6 days.
“Had the samples not been taken on the spot on arrival of train passengers, the people would have to undergo 28-day administrative quarantine. Now with 100 percent sampling at Railway Station itself, the results are arriving within 3-6 days after which the persons reporting negative are sent for home quarantine,” the Deputy Commissioner Jammu said, adding that with the best efforts of Health Department about 1500 samples for testing Coronavirus are being taken every day in Jammu.
Further, Chouhan said, the management of all paid quarantine centres today told her that they will not be charging room rent from the persons staying in their hotels beyond four days.
“If the persons had to stay in the hotels, the paid quarantine centres, beyond four days due to delay in results, the hotels will not charge room rent from them and the people will have to pay for food only,” she said.
The District Magistrate Jammu said 100 labourers from different parts of Jammu were today sent to Katra Railway Station for their onward journey to their hometowns in the trains. She added that buses will run from Jammu to Katra for the stranded labourers whenever there is train for other States. The labourers are being provided with refreshment and packed meals.
Chouhan said in the quarantine centres there were no complaints of facilities but delay in tests for which a mechanism has been developed and situation is being monitored constantly.
Meanwhile, two girls from Tope Sherkhania and Bishnah in Jammu district, aged 23 and 26 years, tested positive for COVID-19 today. They were under quarantine and were now being shifted to Gandhi Nagar hospital.
A 70 year old woman from Udhampur, 23-year old youth from Latti and 38-year old man from Udhampur town, all with travel history, also tested Corona positive tonight.
A 29-yyear old youth from Banihal and 40-year old man from Ramban in Ramban district have also tested positive for COVID-19.
Three persons aged 35, 17 and 43, who had travel history of New Delhi and Himachal Pradesh and were under administrative quarantine in Billawar and Kathua have tested positive for COVID-19. Two of them hailed from Billawar and another from Ladwal, Kathua.
A 28-year old youth from Kathua town tested positive tonight.
A 42-year old returnee from village Dalhori in Rajouri district also tested Corona positive today.
Meanwhile, a 25-year old youth from Srinagar, tested positive at the GMC Jammu today.
With this, total number of Corona patients in Jammu region have gone up to 175 while there were 109 active cases. Sixty four persons have recovered and there were two deaths.
A woman from Gurha, Bakshi Nagar wife of a truck owner who had returned from New Delhi and a man from Miran Sahib, both in Jammu district, today tested negative for COVID-19 twice and were discharged from the Chest Diseases Hospital Bakshi Nagar Jammu, Medical Superintendent Dr Rajeshwar Sharma said.
Meanwhile, first Train of outbound migrant workers departed from Katra for Chhatrapur (MP) today at 5 pm carrying 1184 persons.
As per the Nodal Officer J&K, more trains are being organised and the migrant workers desirous to leave are advised to wait. They will be notified in due course of time.
“The workers should not walk or move unauthorisedly but wait for administration to notify them to board the train going to their home,” the Nodal officer appealed the outbound migrant workers.
From Jammu, the workers were sent to Katra by Nodal Officer Dr Tahir Hussain, Additional DC Jammu.
Around 1000 persons including 500 students are on board the Special Shramik Train which left Pune for Udhampur at 7 pm this evening.
Fifty student volunteers have been trained by local medicos in Pune to tackle any medical or other health issues on board during the 40-hour long journey from Pune to Udhampur.
This is the second Shramik Train deployed for bringing back J&K residents from Maharashtra.
Earlier, around 1000 J&K residents, including 400 students, were evacauted by a Special Shramik Train from Nagpur on May 14.
The total number of J&K residents evacuated till date from Maharashtra has touched 2000.
The Government has transported over 74218 residents of J&K back to their hometowns through COVID special trains, buses and flights.
As per the detailed break up about the figures, the government has evacuated 59492 residents of J&K, stranded in various other states and UTs, through Lakhanpur besides bringing back home about 14225 people through special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations. Besides 501 passengers including students have been brought back through special flights, so far.
Additionally, 1844 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from May 18 to 19 morning while 890 passengers reached today in the 6th COVID special train at Jammu besides about 510 passengers reached Udhampr railway station from Moradabad in the 10th train.
So far, six trains have reached Jammu with a total of 5508 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 8717 passengers have reached Udhampur in 10 special trains, so far. Besides, two trains carrying about 1400 passengers from Bhopal and Bengluru reached Udhampur by this evening.
Principal Secretary PDD, Rohit Kansal; Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi and Chief Electoral Officer, Hirdesh Kumar, who are the Nodal Officers for management of return of stranded people at Jammu, Udhampur and Kathua respectively, are personally monitoring the facilities being extended to the passengers during their de-boarding and movement to their home districts.
As per update by the Nodal Officer J&K government, the train service from Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujrat and Rajsthan is at its advance stage while for North East and states in East the service is in process.
