WPRs relieved of ‘refugee’ tag

JAMMU, May 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), national vice president, former MP and Jammu Kashmir incharge, Avinash Rai Khanna, said that the decision of the Jammu and Kashmir Government to issue Domicile Certificate to the displaced persons from PoK and West Pakistan, migrants and other sections is a historical decision which will give benefits to all classes.
Avinash Rai Khanna welcomed the Government’s decision adding that the Central Government first repealed Article 370 and abolished the tag of word refugee on the foreheads of West Pakistan refugees and gave them the right to live a respectable life in India. He said that people who have been displaced after independence and whose families have been living in Jammu and Kashmir for 70 years, did not have the right to claim as residents and were leading life full of problems.
Khanna said that through this decision, the Government has given a gift to the DPs, migrants, Valmiki Samaj and other sections. He said that due to this historic decision of the UT Government, Domicile certificates will be issued to the people belonging to all these sections.
Along with this, the Government has decided to give similar certificates to those who have been living in Jammu and Kashmir for 15 years and have appeared in the 10th and 12th standard examinations, Khanna said and added that such families which had gone out of Jammu and Kashmir and were not given residential certificates here will also be benefitted from this decision and the daughters of Jammu and Kashmir will also get similar facility.
Khanna appreciated the fixing time of 15 days for issuance of Domicile certificate and said that penalty of Rs fifty thousand on the official found responsible for causing delay to the effect will bring transparency and accountability.
He also congratulated the PM Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, who understood the sufferings of these people and favoured to issue Domicile certificate to them.
Meanwhile, BJP district president, R S Pura H S Pumy termed the new Domicile notification a bold and historic decision of the BJP led Union Government. He said BJP Government led by Narendra Modi showed dynamism in ending over seven decade old discrimination with nationalist people in J&K and giving a strong blow to secessionist and anti national forces.
