Confederation seeks representation of SC/ST/OBC in Govt bodies

JAMMU, May 23: All India Confederation of SC/ ST/ OBC Organisations, J&K, headed by State president RK Kalsotra, called on Lt Governor G C Murmu and demanded representation to the these communities in the Government bodies besides Domicile laws for residents of Pakistan who wish to come to J&K.
“We are grateful to the LG for giving time to the Confederation for second time to table the demands and aspirations of the vulnerable sections. We thanked LG for implementing constitutionally mandated representation of few SC/ST/OBCs at higher posts and giving rights to Safaikaramcharis and refugees under domicile laws,” said Kalsotra, while addressing a press conference, here today.
The delegation, headed by R K Kalsotra and comprising Advocate Inderjeet Shavotra, Advocate Anwar Chowdhary, Advocate Mohd Reyaz Choudhury, Joginder Singh and Kuldeep Kumar, also raised some demands of the Confederation, which include implementation of reservation in promotion retrospectively since October 2015; shifting headquarters of National Commission of SC/ST/OBC to J&K from Uttar Pradesh; nomination of SC and ST member in the Delimitation Commission body; Domicile laws for residents of Pakistan who wish to come to J&K; representation at all the higher posts including Judiciary; implementation of the Forest Rights Act in J&K; Construction of Dr BR Ambedkar Bhawan in Jammu; reservation in distribution of licenses for Government run agencies like oil, gas, petrol pumps etc; demand of reservation in JDA housing complex, business houses, franchise distribution; hostels for SC/ST/OBCs students in J&K; reconstitution of Commission for Educationally and Socially Backward Classes, implementation of Mandal Commission Report by granting 27 percent reservation to OBCs and facilitating 10 percent vacant reservation for them in the UT, clearance of one lakh backlogs in the UT via recruitment drives; distribution of surplus land to ex-servicemen from SC/ST/OBCs and landless sections under Agrarian reforms Act; pre matric scholarship for Gaddi/Sippi community, etc.
Kalsotra said that the LG was patient with their demands and assured that he would positively consider them at the earliest.
