JAMMU, May 26: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed the Central Government to reconsider its earlier decision regarding freezing of the “Dearness Allowance (DA)” payable to both Central and State Government employees and pensioners due from January 2020.
“Dearness relief is not a wage increase. It is just compensation against the erosion of real wages and cost of living,” said NMC president, Subash Shastri in a statement issued here.
Shastri pointed out that the entire country was fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi while the employees engaged in the essential services are at fore front of the battle against the pandemic, risking their safety and life.
Recognizing the contribution of these brave Corona warriors, he appealed the Government to withdraw the earlier order which deprives the pensioners and employees from the release of 4% DA.
NMC also demanded implementation of all Central Labour laws, setting up of Labour Welfare Board, release of all pending wages of DRWS besides their regularization under SRO 64.
