JAMMU, May 26: Congress and Independent Councilors of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here today staged a protest demonstration demanding resumption of fumigation drives in the city as cases of deadly COVID-19 pandemic have increased in Jammu.
The protesters tried to take out a rally to Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to the Lt Governor, G.C Murmu but cops stopped them midway.
The protesting Councilors alleged that no attention is being paid to recruit sanitation workers to overcome the shortage of manpower and demanded the resignation of JMC Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta.
“The Coronavirus cases within the JMC limits are increasing and the process of sanitization has been slowed down. It is very unfortunate that even red zone areas are being ignored,” the memorandum read.
