Poppy destroyed, 10 arrested

Srinagar, May 26: Police today destroyed a huge junk of poppy cultivation spread over more than 40 Kanals of land in village Chersoo area of Awantipora in district Pulwama.
Led by the SDPO and SHO Awantipora, Police said that 10 people involved in the cultivation of illegal poppy have been arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Those arrested have been identified by the police as Bashir Ah Bhat S/o Ab Ghani Bhat, Bashir Ah Bhat S/o Late Akli Bhat, Mohd Akram BhatS/o Late Gh Mohd Bhat, Ab Rashid Bhat S/o Late Ab Majeed, Gh Mohi Din ReshiS/o Sanaullah Reshi, Mohd Iqbal ReshiS/o Late Ab Ahad R/Reshi, Ali Mohd Bhat S/o Gh Mohi Ud Din Bhat, Ab Hamid Reshi S/o Ab Aziz Reshi, Bashir Ah Wani S/o Ghulam Ah Wani, Imtiyaz Ah ReshiS/o Late Ahad Reshi.
All are stated to be the residents of Chersoo Village.
