Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 89 cattle rescued, 9 arrested

JAMMU, May 29: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 89 cattle and arresting 9 smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a police team led by SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul along with SHO Kanachack Inspector Ravi Singh, SHO Domana Inspector Chanchal Singh and Incharge Police Post Chinore SI Deepak Bharti laid a naka on ring road near Kangrail and rescued 56 bovine animals from the clutches of bovines smugglers, who managed to escape from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
A case under FIR Number 77/2020 under section 188, 379 and 295-A IPC and 3 PCA has been registered at Police Station Kanachack and hunt has been launched to nab the cattle smugglers.
Meanwhile, a team from Udhampur Police Station led by SHO Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch Additional SP Udhampur, Dr Rohit Chadgal DySP Headquarters Udhampur and SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey laid a naka near Jakhani and intercepted a truck bearing registration number NL02Q 6744.
During checking, police team rescued 12 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Gurpreet Singh, son of Malkeet Singh of Gadigarh District Jammu and Golu, son of Mam Din of Kashtigarh District Doda.
A case under FIR Number 218/2020 under sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and investigation initiated.
However, a team from Thanna Mandi Police Station led by SHO Fareed Ahmed under the supervision of Additional SP Rajouri Liyaqit Ali and SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli rescued 21 animals and arrested seven cattle smugglers. Two vehicles were also seized by the police team.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Irfan, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Darhali Morh District Rajouri, Gulshan Hussain, son of Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Behram Gala Surankote, Tanveer Hussain, son of Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Chandimarh, Mohammad Shokit, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Rajdhani Thanamandi, Mohammad Rayaz, son of Ghulam Qadir of Majhoor Thanamandi, Rashad Hussain, son of Mohammad Bashir and Mohammad Zabir, son of Mohammad Azam, both residents of Behrote Thanamandi.
Three separate FIRs under relevant sections of law have been registered in Thana Mandi Police Station and investigation started.
