Keep 8 Assembly seats for DPs of PoJK: MJR-47

JAMMU, May 30: MJR-47, an organisation of DPs from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir has demanded that Government must keep eight Assembly seats out of 24, for the displaced persons from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The DPs’ body lauded Narendra Modi as PM for successful and glorious rule, taking historic decisions, so far presumed to be impossible by all other political parties including abrogation of Article 370, creation of UTs and cash relief of Rs 2,000 crores for the DPs.
A spokesman of the MJR-47 said the recent formation of Delimitation Commission for realigning and creating 7 new Assembly segments is another historic decision by PM to mitigate the inequality and injustice being done to people of Jammu region by erstwhile regimes. “In spite of the fact that 24 Assembly seats have been kept reserved for the voters of PoJK areas, we DPs of 1947 have more than 12 lakh souls living in Jammu region, and some other parts. We do not have any Assembly segment to elect our own representative due to our scattered habitations over more than 20 Assembly segments in Jammu province,” he maintained.
“Since the part of the state illegally occupied by Pakistan is agreed to be integral part of India by the Parliamentary resolution of Feb 1994, we fail to understand what stops the Indian Govt to open up atleast 8 seats in proportion to our population since displaced from PoJK areas out of 24 seats kept reserved for the voters of that area when we the legitimate voters of that area are living in this part of India from where we can vote and exercise our constitutional right to vote and elect our representative, ” MJR-47 spokesman said.
MJR-47 demanded that atleast 8 Assembly seats be kept reserved for the displaced people living in the UT of J&K.
