PHE employees demand regularization, release of wages

JAMMU, May 30: PHE Employees United Front (PHEEUF) has urged upon the higher authorities to regularize daily wage and consolidated workers and also release their pending wages.
A meeting of the office bearers of the Front was held here today to discuss the unresolved demands of the PHE field and operational staff, particularly the daily wagers those who could not be regularised even after 25 years of service. They said exploitation of such poor workers still continued even under Lt Governor’s rule. The members said hurdles are being created again before the workers by issuing unnecessary orders and circulars.
The members said that the fresh conditions like 6 vouchers (six pay drawn) before 17-3-2015 is not acceptable, they demanded that all daily rated workers who were engaged before 17-3-2015 and how drawn one months wages only be considered legible also, the Front further demanded that no direct and fresh recruitment be done in the PHE department till the regularisation of all already engaged daily wagers.
They said minimum wages as per Central Wage Act be given to the PHE workers. They criticized the Government for its providing step motherly treatment towards PHE workers, with regard to insurance cover, which has been extended only to the employees of Medical department and Municipal Corporation. They further demanded toilet facilities for such workers who have been performing their duties in urban areas.
The Employees Front further urged upon the higher authorities in PHE to provide safety material like sanitizer, soap, hand gloves besides fans and benches to the field duty men.
