Private Polytechnics highlight role in promotion of technical education

JAMMU, Apr 9: To discuss the role of private Polytechnics in promotion of technical education, an extraordinary meeting of the J&K Private Polytechnics Association was held here under the chairmanship of its president Er Vidhi S Singh Jamwal.
The meeting was attended by all the office bearers including Purnima Choudhary vice president, Er Farooq Ahmed, general secretary, Shafiq Qureshi, Treasurer-cum-media secretary and the representatives of all the Private Polytechnics from Jammu and Srinagar.
The role of private Polytechnics in promotion of Technical Education in the State particularly during the past 2 decades and prospects for promoting this noble mission with particular reference to impediments at different administrative levels was discussed at length.
It was viewed with appreciation that private Polytechnics of the State, with a self financed initiative have made a remarkable contribution in the growth of technically trained human resource during the past two decades when there was a yawning difference between the training opportunities available and the requirement of the field and this void was filled by the private Polytechnics.
However, this extraordinary contribution has remained under-appreciated resulting in emergence of many obstacles for smooth functioning of these polytechnics.
The meeting particularly discussed the problems related to admissions through BOPEE, overdue revision of fee structure at par with the standards of neighbouring States and other related issues. It was resolved unanimously that a deputation of the association will call on the  Minister for Technical Education, Chairman BOPEE and the  Chairman of the Fee Revision Committee to apprise  them about the point of view of the Association on these important issues so that matters are settled in a positive and time bound matter.
